哀　歌THRENOS美，真，圣洁的情操，Beauty, truth, and rarity,单纯之中蕴含的崇高，Grace in all simplicity ,已化为灰烬，火灭烟消。

Here enclos'd in cinders lie.

如今凤凰的巢穴是死亡；Death is now the phoenix' nest;斑鸠的无限忠诚的胸膛And the turtle's loyal breast休憩在不朽的永恒之乡。

To eternity doth rest,他们也没有留下后裔，Leaving no posterity :并非他们有什么痼疾，Twas not their infirmity ,只因他们是童贞的结缡。

真，有表象，没有真相，Truth may seem, but cannot be;美，靠炫耀，本色消亡，Beauty brag , but 'tis not she;真，美，双双被埋葬。

Truth and beauty buried be.

让两只非真即美的飞禽To this urn let those repair一同进入这只骨灰瓶；That are either true or fair;为两只死鸟，请哀告神明！

For these dead birds sigh a prayer.
