Eminem has revealed Sir Elton John calls him every week to make sure he is off drugs.

The 'We Made You' rapper - who was forced to cancel the European leg of his 2005 tour so he could be admitted into rehab after becoming hooked on prescription drugs - is grateful for the 'Rocket Man' singer's support and insists Elton understands the pressures of the music industry.

Eminem said: "Elton calls me once a week.

He's somebody who is in the business and can identify and relate to the lifestyle and how hectic things can be for artists.

He understands the pressure.

"The 37-year-old hip-hop star befriended the 63-year-old musician - who beat an addiction to cocaine and alcoholism - after they performed together at the 2001 Grammy Awards and Elton helped him through his stint in rehab in 2005.

Eminem - real name Marshall Mathers - said: "I reached out to him and told him, 'Look, I'm going through a problem and I need your advice.

'"He used to tell me stuff like, 'You're going to start seeing certain things you've been overlooking.

' And it came true.

"I'd walk around like, 'Damn, that tree does look crazy, look at all those leaves!

' Things I didn't notice when I was f***ed up.

"The Detroit-born star documents his battle with drug addiction on new LP 'Recovery'.
