Finnish game company Rovio has announced it will make a 3D animated film about its most successful game, Angry Birds.

The company plans to develop, produce, and finance the film by themselves which will feature all the characters that appear in the game.

The film is expected to be released in the summer of 2016 and will be distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment, which beat out several other studios for worldwide distribution rights.

It has been reported the producer of Despicable Me will team up with Iron Man's executive producer to produce and executive produce the Angry Birds film.

Angry Birds games have been downloaded over 1.

7-billion times worldwide.

No word on a plot for the film yet, but I'm guessing there's going to be lots of angry birds squawking as the fly though the air.
