The Golden Era dominated the 34th Hong Kong Film Awards with five wins, including best film, best director, best cinematography and best art direction.

It was the fifth time The Golden Era's helmer Ann Hui won the best director award, after A Simple Life (2012), The Way We Are (2008), Summer Snow (1995), and Boat People (1982).

Sean Lau took the award for best actor for his performance in Overheard 3.

Lau was also nominated in the same category for his work in Insanity.

It was his second time crowned best actor after 16 nominations; the first time was for his work in My Name is Fame (2006).
