Hong Kong celebrity Eric Tsang was involved in a car accident in Japan on Christmas Day, according to Hong Kong media.

据香港媒体报道，香港名人曾志伟于圣诞节期间在日本遭遇车祸。

The 65-year-old actor was driving a private car in Hokkaido when it collided into a seven-seater carrying a top Hong Kong police officer, Apple Daily reported on Wednesday (Dec 26).

The accident happened at about 1pm, the report said.

据 苹果日报　12月26日报道，65岁的曾志伟在北海道驾驶一辆私家车时撞上了一辆载着一名香港高级警官的七人座轿车。

报道称，事故发生在下午1点左右。

Li Zhi Heng, director of the Hong Kong police’s criminal and security division, sustained a spine injury and had to be airlifted to the hospital for surgery, said Apple Daily.

RTHK added that Li was conscious after the accident, but felt numb in the lower half of his body.

It is understood that Li was on holiday with his family at the time of the incident, reported RTHK.

Tsang and his female companion - whom reports named only as Ms Li were unhurt.

Tsang’s daughter Bowie confirmed through her manager that her father was in an accident.
