NBC announced on Wednesday that the show will return to its roots for another non-celebrity version of the hit reality competition.

Donald Trump will return for the new season, but fans can expect a few notable changesThe Apprentice first aired in January 2004 to rave reviews and big audiences as successful business men and women vied for a position to work alongsideDonald Trump.

The show eventually evolved intoCelebrity Apprentice where normal competitors were replaced with famous ones, as celebrities such as Clint Black, Joan Rivers, and Bret Michaels would duke it out for prize money to be donated to the charity of their choice.

Fans of the originalApprentice will be happy to know thatNBC has plans to revive it.

Paul Telegdy, NBC’s executive vice president of alternative programming, says,”The Apprentice is a proven brand, and we believe its return is more relevant than ever since it will provide new hope for many Americans struggling in this difficult job market.

” The recent economic downturn will actually play a big role in the new season ofThe Apprentice.

The new cast will consist entirely of contestants who have been affected by the recession.

The 14 competitors will be comprised of individuals who have been laid off, aren’t happy about their current career choice, or recent graduates with limited options.

I am very excited to return to the original premise ofThe Apprentice,”Donald Trump said.

We’ve got to do something about the economy and this is a terrific way to provide jobs as well as business lessons along the way.
