China's State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Meng Jianzhu called on the security personnel to make further efforts in safeguarding the security during the remaining days of the Expo 2010.
Security officials should sum up their experiences to improve their work and keep up with their good performance, said Meng during his visit to the city over the weekend.
Meng visited police officers, armed police officers and volunteers at a security-check area at Expo Site's Gaoxiong Road Gate, Expo Site Police Station as well as a traffic police post at Expo Avenue and Gaoke Road W.
crossing.
Meng said that the departments concerned should better arrange duty rotations and provide appropriate logistic service to ensure that security personnel could rest well, maintain a good morale and stay in excellent physical conditions.
Meng also pointed out that in the past two months, the officers have worked day and night to guarantee the safe operation of the Expo.
Their performance and devotion have won wide acclaim from both the domestic and overseas visitors, Meng said.
Meng urged all people involved in the security work of the Expo to keep up with their good work in the remaining days of the 184-day event.
During his visit to Expo Command Center and Zhuqiao security check station at Shenyang-Haikou Expressway, he pointed out that good experiences and practices should be summed up and carried on through a set of mechanisms.
The weak points and problems should be corrected and solved immediately.
Long term public security mechanisms should be established by drawing experience from the Expo security work so that the new systems may benefit not only the economic and social development of the country, but also the general public, Meng added.
During his tour of the city, Meng also visited the family of a police officer, who passed away while on duty and was posthumously recognized as a hero by the Public Security Ministry, and offered condolence to them.
