The Chinese government has issued a new five-year plan for the development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), introducing comprehensive arrangements for its related work.

国务院办公厅日前印发 十四五”中医药发展规划　，对十四五”时期中医药工作进行全面部署。

According to the plan released by the General Office of the State Council, by 2025, health services provided by TCM will be significantly enhanced, while the policy and system for high-quality development of TCM will be further improved, with its unique strengths in building a healthy China brought fully into play.

规划提出，到2025年，中医药健康服务能力明显增强，中医药高质量发展政策和体系进一步完善，中医药在健康中国建设中的独特优势得到充分发挥。

The plan sets out key tasks to be implemented during the period, such as building a sound TCM service system, fostering specialists in TCM, and developing a high-level system for inheritance, protection and innovation in TCM.

规划部署了10方面重点任务，包括建设优质高效中医药服务体系，建设高素质中医药人才队伍，建设高水平中医药传承保护与科技创新体系等。

The plan also emphasizes combining TCM with modern science and integrating Chinese and Western medicine to better protect people's health.

规划强调，推进中医药和现代科学相结合，推动中医药和西医药相互补充、协调发展，为更好保障人民健康提供有力支撑。
