China has the largest number of world natural heritage sites according to the National Forestry and Grassland Administration.

The country is now home to 14 world natural heritage sites and four heritage sites noted for both cultural and natural features.

These sites effectively preserve China's geological relics, mountains, forests and lakes, along with rare and endangered animal and plant species.

这些遗产有效保护了中华大地上最具代表性的地质遗迹，最优美的山岳、森林、湖泊，最珍稀濒危的动植物物种。

The areas have also played an important role in the protection of cultural relics, intangible cultural heritage and historic cities, towns and villages, bringing in over 14 billion yuan in average annual tourism revenue for locals.

18项遗产地还保护了200多个文物保护单位、非物质文化遗产、众多的历史文化名城名镇名村和传统村落，平均每年为当地带来超过140亿元的旅游收入。
